How to practice?
The two sides to the racket frame are called the forehand face and the backhand face. You can hit the shuttle with either of them.
Before starting a game, try a few simple strokes with the shuttle to get familiar with the play. Use the forehand grip and practice hitting the shuttle upwards with the forehand face of the racket. Change to the backhand grip and do the same, using the backhand face of the racket.
Next, try hitting the shuttle high into the air; hit it more gently so that it stays closer to your racket. Then, practice the serving. You serve by holding the feather of the shuttle with your fingers of the other hand (non-racket hand) and, then using an underarm action hit the shuttle forward over the net. You start to serve from the right side of the court.
Practice both on your forehand and backhand. After you practice more, you would be able to slice across the base of the shuttle with an angled racket face. And, you would be able to hit the shuttle in different directions and to various distances.
Practice makes perfect, so the more you practice the better you become.
